On 7 and 8 September, BirdLife Australia and the Glossy Black Conservancy are teaming up for the Great Glossy Count to help secure a brighter future for this gorgeous species.

The Glossy Black-Cockatoo is one of the quietest species of cockatoo and most people don’t know that these beautiful birds call Redlands Coast home.

While spotted in various locations across the mainland, Glossies have also found havens on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

After losing large areas of feeding habitat during the bushfires in 2019-2020, the Glossy Black-Cockatoo has been listed as Vulnerable and is at risk of further population decline.

You can play a crucial role in securing a brighter future for the Glossy Black-Cockatoo.
