The Birkdale Active Pathway Upgrade project, is a $1.9 million shared pathway upgrade. It forms part of Council’s vision for improving the city’s walking and cycling network as outlined in the Redlands Coast Transport Strategy 2020.

This project has:
• Extended the existing shared pathway at the Judy Holt Recreation Reserve to the Tarradarrapin Creek Wetlands in the north and Allenby Road in the south, creating a new 2km long and 2.5-3m wide pathway connection through Birkdale.
• Formed part of the Queensland Government’s Principal Cycle Network Plan and connects to the future Northern Greenway Active Transport Corridor.
• Included a community planting day to enhance and protect the area’s environmental value.
The project is jointly funded by Council and the Queensland Government and proudly supported by the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.
