Welcome Back Shore Birds Festival is an opportunity to celebrate, observe, and learn about the amazing migratory shorebirds that return annually to Toondah Harbour.
Welcome Back Shorebirds Festival is a Free Event
Celebrity MC for the day is Hannah Moloney, host of Gardening Australia, who will guide us through the day’s activities with smiles and plenty of fun.
The kids will be entertained all afternoon with great activities and parents can enjoy hearing a range of interesting speakers, explore the marquee displays and enjoy great music from renowned First Nations singer/song writer Joe Geia and talented local musicians Chuck’s Blues Wagon, Clara Durbidge, and other entertaining performers.
At 1pm we launch the festival with a “Welcome to Country” by Uncle Norman Enoch Quandamooka Elder. Followed by a traditional First Nations Smoking Ceremony by Matt Burns.
The free family-day fun includes; Beako the huge puppet, yummy food vans, juggling/acrobatics, art and craft activities, photo booth, bird watching experience and competitions with prizes. Bring a picnic rug and/or chair to relax.
A koala walk will be held towards the end of the event at approx. 4.30pm
