SATURDAY AUGUST 24
Koala Walk
1:30pm
Discover some of the natural areas of the Redlands and try to spot koalas and other wildlife.
We hope you can join us for a walk this Saturday at a property in Bligh St, Wellington Pt that was recently purchased by Redland City Council with the environmental levy.

The 4.55 hectare property is a highly sensitive environmental area containing around 80% endangered regional ecosystem and home to koalas and many other species of wildlife including migratory birds.

We hope to spot ‘Kimo’ and ‘Gumnut’, a couple of koalas included in the Ormiston Neighbourhood Conservation Project who are being GPS tracked by koala researchers from the Sunshine Coast University.

The property is situated alongside Hilliards Creek and forms part of a major wildlife corridor that adjoins the Geoff Skinner Wetlands which is also owned by Council.

Due to increased numbers of biting insects in this area it is advised to wear sun safe clothing eg long pants and a long sleeved shirt, enclosed shoes and a hat. Insect repellent will be available to use.

Afternoon tea will be provided after the walk and this is a family friendly event suitable for all ages.
