Council is asking for community input into a proposal to make changes to the Redland City Plan’s Environmental Significance Overlay that will see the Wildlife Connections Plan 2018-2028 (WCP) incorporated into the City Plan.

Currently the WCP is not a statutory document meaning that when new development applications are assessed, consideration of the wildlife corridor mapping is not mandatory or have legal status, therefore is only a guide.
KAG sees this is a positive move, as the key aim of the WCP is to “manage , enhance and protect core wildlife habitat patches and to facilitate improved connection of wildlife corridors across the Redlands”.
