THE Koala Action Group is hoping to find more than 19 koalas at Cleveland during a school holiday event on Sunday, September 29.
The group’s Koala Family Day by the Bay will include a walk to count koalas in the area.
KAG president Debbie Pointing said it was hoped that more koalas would be found than during the previous count.
“The last koala count conducted in 2016 found 19 koalas in the area so we’re hoping to beat that number this year,” she said.
The free event includes a sausage sizzle, koala information display and activities, followed by a koala spotting walk.

“We’re hoping to locate Tyler, Paddy, Kacey with her joey and their other family members that live nearby,” Ms Pointing said.
The event starts at 2pm in GJ Walter Park, Shore Street East, Cleveland.
The koala walk will start at 3pm from the car park area at the end of Shore Street East.
