Redland Bay Rd Capalaba, Wellington St Cleveland and Boundary Rd Thornlands recorded the highest number of vehicle strikes on koalas since May last year according to statistics received from Department of Environment and Resource Management.
Koalas were struck by vehicles on the following roads in the Redlands area and motorists are reminded to slow down and be on the watch for wildlife whilst driving at night.
Redland Bay Rd, Cnr Redland Bay & Vienna Rds, ALEXANDRA HILLS; Old Cleveland Rd East, BIRKDALE; Broadwater Rd, Moreton Bay Rd, Mt Cotton Rd, Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Rd (2), Old Cleveland Rd (2), Redland Bay Rd (5), Cnr Redland Bay & Windemere Rds, Spirit Drive, CAPALABA; Beach St, Shore St West (2), Wellington St (4), CLEVELAND; Mt Cotton Rd, Valley Way, MT COTTON; Northern Arterial Rd ORMISTON; Cnr Serpentine & Rocky Passage Rds, REDLAND BAY; Boundary Rd, Cnr Boundary & Meadowlands Rds, Cnr Boundary & Kinross Rds, Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd (2), Cnr Wellington St & Panorama Dve, Wellington St, Ziegenfusz Rd, THORNLANDS; Bunker Rd, Cnr of Bunker & Kingfisher Rds, Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd, Cnr Colburn & Link Rds, VICTORIA POINT.
Residents are also urged to keep dogs inside or tethered at night as records show that koalas were attacked by dog/s in backyards in the following areas:
